Xbox switched strategy with video services. To watch Netflix and YouTube you needed a $60 Xbox Gold membership, but the company will allow anyone to watch these services. I discuss what this means for video streaming. Vudu announced a user can share their videos with up to 5 other people. Sounds like a good deal all round, though there’s always one group that doesn’t feel that way. Freewheel says that UK streamers watch more ads on tablets, and US smartphones. Turns out behavior generalizes to all videos, not just ads.
